PROPER WAY TO WASH YOUR HAIR & SCALP

HOW TO PROPERLY WASH YOUR SCALP AND HAIR!!!

By Marlyn Kragh

We all wash our hair, but did you know there's a right way to cleanse your scalp & hair…

I believe that healthy hair requires proper maintenance and begins with a healthy scalp.

I am also a firm believer in the cool rinse…

• Step 1:

Make sure that you have no hair tangles or dreadlocks. One can brush one’s hair first and remove those

tangles/dreadlocks before you get into the shower. Not only with this help reduce the amount of hairs that get

caught in your drain, but it will also reduce breakage as well as stimulate circulation in your scalp. Try investing

on a good brush or combs. Don’t use cheap brushes and combs with cheap plastic bristles. You can even

buy brushes that have ions that prevent statics during non humid winters. One good brand is Goody!

• Step 2:

Wet your scalp and hair very thoroughly, massaging the water into the scalp washing away first layers of

       secreted oil & sweat residues.

Pour your pure unadulterated cleansing SHAMPOO – (avoid those 2-in one or 3 in one types of shampoos)

over a small plastic cup, say 1-2 tablespoons mix with 2-3 ounces of water . pour mixture little by little on

the scalp part by part till you covered the whole scalp then Start by lathering the scalp &hair at the roots

and working your way down using your finger tips. Remember you should be more focused on cleansing

your scalp than shampooing your hair. There will be enough lather to wash your hair…

If you are the type that uses much oils, crèmes, gels, mouse, sticky hairsprays or Hairdressing stuffs that

clings to the hair- then you may mix another 1 tablespoon of shampoo mixed with 3 ounces of water stirring

it quickly using your fingers and pour it on your hair and mildly giving it a slight massage using both palms

       together lathering the hair strands..

Step 3:

Exceptional: If you hair is very thick and long, you might need to add some more shampoo.

Once you think your hair is fully lathered and you are ready to rinse, perhaps you can again give yourself a

good two-minute scalp massage with your fingertips. Gently massage your head in circular motions and lift

hair from time to time from the roots. After about every 20 seconds, add just a little bit more water to your

hands, and work it into your hair. What you are doing is emulsifying your shampoo so that it can reach

its potential and improving scalp circulation.

Step 4:

Rinse away very thoroughly all of the grimy residue in your hair that you didn't even know could

accumulate so quickly. To begin, set your water to more of a lukewarm temperature, and rinse your hair out

until it starts to squeak! Make sure that there is no slimy feel of the shampoo.

Step 5:

Once your hair is completely cleansed, you can go back and add conditioner to the mid-lengths of your hair

to the ends (avoid putting or massaging the conditioner in tot the scalp, but if you did just wash it well

to avoid build ups that can turn to dandruffs. This will help detangle hair, soften &hydrate damaged ends,

and even make your hair easier to manage. Don't forget to rinse very ,very well making sure that you wash

away all the residues of the conditioner, ideally rinsing the scalp/hair first with warm water followed by

       cool water.
